Routine vaccination of dogs involves a course of puppy vaccinations and a yearly booster. Until now, the combined vaccines on the market have just protected dogs against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza virus and Leptospirosis. Other vaccinations which can be given include Rabies injections for dogs going abroad and intra-nasal (given up the nose without a needle) Kennel Cough vaccinations.
A new combined vaccination has become available in this country which includes an extra component that gives protection against Canine Coronavirus and uses new technology that aims to improve the levels of disease protection it gives.
Canine Coronavirus is an infectious viral disease, the symptoms of which include severe diarrhoea which, particularly in pups, old dogs, and those with other gastrointestinal problems or poor immunity, can be life-threatening. Otherwise healthy adult dogs may recover from Coronavirus disease with appropriate treatment.
If you are interested in this vaccine, or if your dog's vaccinations have lapsed (i.e. he has not had a booster in the last year) then please give us a call and we can arrange for him to have a check-over and any vaccinations that are necessary.
